The magical 12 week scan

The moment you are waiting for since the moment you find out you’re pregnant, the 12 week scan.

This point in the pregnancy means a couple of things; 1. you get to find out if your baby is growing okay and as expected, and 2. As long as they are, you’re officially (by society’s standards) allowed to finally tell people.

It’s (hopefully in the majority of cases) a huge sigh of relief, and normally the first time people get to see their little one. We were in a way lucky that we had the early scans at 6 and 10 weeks due to the higher risk / complications early on, but still, the 12 week scan was THE scan. The one where after I felt I’d really be able to start to relax into the pregnancy.

Little baby pea, waving again!

We hadn’t bought a single item up to this point, as much as I learnt to deal with it and really enjoyed my pregnancy even in the early weeks, the first trimester fear held me back from actually buying anything or thinking too far ahead with any seriousness. But having a good, healthy 12 week scan was our green light.

As much as you may have already told close friends and family by this point, if you’re anything like me you’ll still be aching to tell everyone else in the world! And this is the point you can. I however, decided I wanted to do a Halloween theme announcement, so had to wait a whole 2 weeks extra! It was tough, but worth it!

It gave us a bit extra time to plan our announcement, and we both had fun in the process of picking our perfect pumpkins for the prefect announcement.

It was so so nice to finally let everyone know, particularly at work. It felt strange having such a big secret kept from people I spoke to every day.

Our Halloween theme pregnancy announcement, 31st October 2019

How do you plan on announcing your pregnancy, or how did you? Isn’t it the best feeling ever! It all starts getting even more real as you enter the second trimester.

Love and peas,
